Meet Masset Market Vendors
The Masset Market was born in 2013 out of a collective effort of Masset residents to boost the local economy and quality of living on the North Island. The project, Imagine Masset, spurred community members to start up the Masset Market. Since its first season, it has attracted hundreds of visitors (both locals and tourists) and a variety of vendors. “Make it, bake it, grow it” is the market’s philosophy, and the items available for purchase at the market have included things such as fresh produce, home-baked cinnamon buns, hand-made soaps and salves, jellies and jams and hand-knitted hats and scarves.
Vendor Kyla Mitchell of Islandwise Essentials is proud of the efforts that have been made by the community to bring the market to fruition and the diversity and quality of the goods available. The market is truly a group effort and a reflection of the values of the people who call Haida Gwaii and Masset home. Most of all, the market’s philosophy of sustainability helps to protect the lifestyle here that the community appreciates, like the beautiful outdoors and all of the activity and recreation it provides.
Fresh. Healthy. Homey.
The Masset Market is a locally-driven, grassroots movement toward sustainability through buying and selling foods, food products and hand-crafted items made locally. Vendors come from a variety of backgrounds and sell everything from fresh produce to knitted hats to hand-made soaps. Food growers, producers and artisans of all types are invited to share their goods every Friday from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm between May and September each year.
